Our Own Beloved Maria Vosilla Passes 5/21

Maria has been a part of the Yoga Village family since it's inception. She was a much-loved Hot instructor and also worked at the desk. Her passing has been a personal loss for many of us at Yoga Village and we would like to extend our condolences to her family, who held a memorial service for her in New York on May 25.

One of Maria's favorite things to do was to go to the beach at Honeymoon Island. She would go most mornings with a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee to read, journal and walk. We and her many friends in the area would like to commemorate Maria by dedicating an engraved bench or swing in her name at her favorite spot.

If you would like to donate to the fund for purchasing this memorial--an engraved bench will cost $1000; an engraved swing, $2000--Yoga Village will be collecting. Please make your checks payable to Friends of the Island Parks, Inc. and mark in the memo on the check, "for Honeymoon Island/Maria Vosilla."

The bench or swing will take 4-6 weeks for installation and we intend to have our own impromptu memorial service for Maria there, Dunkin Donuts coffee and all.

Gentle Spirit, by Helen Dahlhauser

A laugh, a smile, a New York wave.

A beauty that covered the quiet grace of the soul within.

Those who knew her loved her; most who loved her never truly knew her.

Self-contained, longing to go home,

She stayed for love; she left surrounded with multicolored scarves of friendship.

Laughter gave her the freedom she yearned for so devoutly.

She will never return to us this lifetime; she is free to go beyond the boundaries that held her.

Tightly, I breathe to send her spiraling into the starry meadows where she can fly beyond all,

and dance the dance of the beloved.

Maria, by Lisa Abernathy

Those beautiful eyes. That sly smile. Her slow, methodical walk.

She was her own woman, a woman of many facets.

Her qualities of compassion, humor, honesty, directness, creativity, generosity and deep knowing are just the beginning of a long list of attributes.

Her presence was enough; her absence will be deeply felt.

That loving soul of hers needed to soar. We miss you.

Go baby go......, but come back and visit.

Love,

Lisa.

I will never forget the compassion and care Maria gave to me when I found out I was ill. She immediately offerred her time to sit with me and answer any questions or concerns. I enjoyed our talks and time we spent together. She is truly a beautiful person. I have missed her and will always have a spot in my heart for her. God has received back one of His best. Love and memories. Jan
